9 November 2016: The unexpected

seal-potusIt is the year of the unexpected. Polling agencies need to reinvent themselves. Pundits can take an early retirement. First, we had the totally unexpected outcome of the Brexit referendum. And now we find ourselves with the most unlikely US presidential candidate in history as the 45th President of the United States. What’s next? We can be sure that the upcoming period will be characterized by insecurity. Because we cannot tell what new surprises we can expect, but also because there will be a person in the White House who is the unexpected made flesh. 2016: the year of the unexpected. At the end of yesterday’s session White Chapel‘s return for the year stood at almost 288%. Return for the quarter was still well above 25%.
White Chapel did not give a trading signal and was pretty convinced that more volatility could be expected…

ta_v05-small-invAway from the turmoil of elections, stock markets, etc., nature is just minding its own business. Autumn in the Netherlands is at its best at this moment. This will last probably only a few days, because leaves are dropping at a rapid pace. But, yesterday, the full range of colors, from green to almost black, could be observed in the woods. No volatility, no unexpected changes of sentiment, no bulls and no bears (figuratively speaking). Just the usual rhythm of the seasons, the certainty of the cycle of life, the plain and simple beauty of what was, what is and what will be…
